Kampua

Kampua, that’s my favourite food. If you’re from Sibu or Sarikei, this is a delicacy not to be missed.  Every time I’m back to my hometown, I’ll never miss to have kampua as my breakfast. The original kampua come with ‘char siu’ (in cantonese) mean roasted pork. If you don’t like the ‘char siu’, then you may ask to replace with ‘wan tan’ (in cantonese). The price of a bowl of kampua is currently at RM2.2o. In the heydays, it is only RM1.20. Hmm……that’s inflation.

Besides the normal kampua, you can have some extras like pork liver soup which is also yummylicious. My wife can have bowls of this and not be bored by it.

So, to my beloved readers out there, do take the opportunity to try out this delicacy if you happen to find it. You’ll definitely not regret it. Yum Yum………got to take some snack now….I’m hungry just by writing this post. Haha..

I guess most of the people don’t even know this species of ‘wild’ durian. If you are durian lover, then you should not miss this. This wild durian is a seasonal fruit during the Jan and Feb. So, during this CNY, I grab my chance to buy some of this king of fruits!

This is usually sold at the pasar tani where the Ibans sold them in a pile of 4 or 5 pieces at RM10/pile. I bought 2 piles for my whole family to savor. The durians are also smaller than the normal durians. 1 durian is about the size  of our palm, but rest assured, there are still quite a lot of flesh in it. The taste of this durian is a little different than the normal durians we had. The flesh is more thick and not so watery. The smell is also not as aromatic or pungent for some people. Therefore, even if you’re not a durian lover, you should try it out. As this is wild durians, we can gurantee it does not contain any chemical fertilizer to make the durians thicker or sweeter. This is the real thing. So, if you ever saw one of these anywhere, be sure to grab one and taste it. You will not regret it. This is indeed the “king of fruits”

Steamboat Buffet

I had try this steamboat Buffet with some of my ex-coursemate and friends just before the Chinese New Year 2010. We usually have a union gathering every year. This year we are choosing Low Maji @ Bandar Puteri as our union place. This shop located same row with the Citibank at Bandar Puteri, Puchong. The steamboat buffet come with 2 kind of soup “Yin & Yan”. The red and oily soup make from hot chilies. It is super hot and spicy. The other one is herbal soup. What i like to comment here is the food was not fresh. Besides that, not too much of variety to choose.

That day, this steamboat shop was full of peoples. I wonder why so many people came here for dinner. Honestly to say, it is not my taste. Sorry to be say, this is my 1st time and it’s end here.

Cookies

Let’s check it out for what type of cookies that i had selected for this 2010 cny…Let’s check it out for what type of cookies that i had selected for this 2010 cny…The price range are from RM10-RM20.

I’m very disappointed with those cny eve food. My mum decided to order from restaurant instead of cook at home. The taste was terrible…what a waste…

1st Dish: Does it look like a combination of cool & hot dishes? None of it were delicious….so sad. We can’t finished it even 1/3. At the end of the day, it became my dog’s food. Even my dogs also don’t want to eat those. Believe it or not? Just believe it…

2nd Dish: This pork leg dish not so bad. I like it but some of my family’s members didn’t like this fatty and oily pork leg.

3rd dish: This dish came with shark fin, egg, muchroom and vegetable. What i have to say is the taste same like the 1st dish. It is taste weird and not nice. Finally, it had been throw away. This 3 dishes cost RM 150.00 It is not worth it. Next cny, no more food ordering from any restaurant. I decide to cook some great dishes myself. I am 100% sure it will be taste good and delicious than this 3 weird dishes.

Chinese New Year

The Year of Tiger

Chinese New Year is just around the corner. The first day of the lunar New Year 2010 falls on the 14th of February, which is Saint Valentine’s Day, so it is a day the West celebrates as a lovers’ day, a day of romance. What a wonderful date. For all the chinese around the world that will celebrating this big festival, i wish them Happy Chinese New Year and “Gong Xi Fa Chai”

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the year of a Golden Tiger. To the Chinese, it is the start of the Golden Tiger Year. The Tiger is the third sign in the cycle of Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 animal signs. It is a sign of courage. This fearless and fiery fighter is revered by the ancient Chinese as the sign that wards off the three main disasters of a household: fire, thieves and ghosts. On New Year’s day itself, it is beneficial to celebrate, to be happy, to have smiling faces, and to refrain from scowling, quarreling, or criticizing anyone.

The origins of the Chinese New Year celebrations were born out of the fear and myth. Legend spoke of the wild beast “Nien” (which mean year) that appeared at the end of each year, attacking and killing villagers. Loud noises and bright lights were used to scare the beast away and the Chinese New Year celebrations were born.
